Why everyone keeps coming back.

Los Caprichos de la Abuela is a charming Creole restaurant nestled in the heart of Campestre Churubusco, Coyoacán, offering an authentic taste of beloved Mexican home cooking. From the moment you step inside this cozy local spot at Local 3A, Cerro de Jesús 1188, you are greeted by an inviting, warm atmosphere that feels like stepping into your abuela’s kitchen.

The restaurant specializes in traditional Creole dishes that awaken your senses with each bite — think rich, slow-cooked stews, comforting soups, and flavorful guisados that bring an effortless balance of savory spices, fresh ingredients, and homestyle flair. The menu is designed thoughtfully, offering fixed daily plates as well as extra options, encouraging diners to savor a variety of authentic flavors without breaking the bank. One of the highlights is the signature three-course tortilla meal including soup or pasta or rice alongside hearty main dishes, all for an incredible value of just around 75 pesos.

Patrons consistently praise the genuine, heartfelt flavors that taste just like grandma used to make. Saúl remarks on the “comfortable, homemade” vibe paired with “rich, varied dishes” and excellent service, while Luisita Castillo raves about “soups crafted with the loving touch of abuelitas.” Roberto Patoni appreciates the familial ambiance and affordable prices, especially compared to the surrounding eateries.
